About
My name is Lesley Alexander and I make handcrafted hats for all occasions. I have been formally trained at the London College of Fashion in all forms of millinery and hat making. I prefer to call myself a hat maker as I have wide and comprehensive range of hat making skills and I am learning more all the time.
It all began when I made a hat for an amateur production of A Letter of Resignation for an local theatre company in Hampton Hill, Teddington Theatre Club
Each of my hats is unique. I have a stock of vintage knitting and crochet patterns, inherited from my mother, which I use as a base but adapt to suit the wearer and my own whim.
I take my ideas from, theatre, film and paintings and find the 1930s, 40s and 50s a real inspiration
Sewn everyday hats are simple in shape, because simple suits most people.
